In the heart of Teneriffe, Brisbane, lies a 1900s classic cottage with a story as captivating as its design. Once nestled in a suburb steeped in history, formerly serving as a submarine base, this residence has been thoughtfully reimagined into a sanctuary for wellness and modern living.
While the design embraces contemporary elements, it pays homage to the home’s architectural heritage. Subtle curves and soft contours throughout the interiors echo the historical charm of the original cottage, creating a seamless dialogue between past and present. The use of our Ona lip pulls throughout the space replicate the curves you can see throughout the home. Expansive views of Brisbane city are framed perfectly from the living spaces, forging a fluid connection between the indoors and the natural surroundings.
What makes this transformation even more remarkable is that the home was created for none other than the talented builder Aurelien behind the project and founder of Aurelien Berson Construction. Designing his residence alongside Ashley from AM Interior Studio allowed a tailored and rule breaking vision to life, blending craftsmanship with innovation in every detail.
Guided by Aurelien’s need for tranquillity and rejuvenation, Ashley integrated a dedicated wellness space featuring a sauna, ice bath, spa, and pool. Each component of the design is a nod to intentional living, encouraging relaxation and recovery. Perhaps the most striking feature is a skylight in the study, ingeniously doubling as the base of the pool, casting a mesmerising play of light that shifts throughout the day.
